The Art of Restoration: Sustainable Functional Design

Description: This workshop is reserved for students ages 8 and up, as it requires the focus and strength to utilize real woodworking tools. Students will sand, seal, and redesign vintage wooden step-stools, learning the importance of surface preparation and material durability. This is an empowering introduction to the "maker movement," teaching older elementary students that they have the ability to build, restore, and finish functional furniture for their own interiors.

• What They’ll Learn: Woodworking safety, sanding and surface preparation, priming, painting, and furniture sealing.

• What They’ll Take Home: A fully restored, custom-painted vintage wooden step-stool.
